The Labyrinth and the Garden of Your Heart. A Veriditas Approved Qualifying Workshop with Veriditas Advanced Accredited Facilitators and previous Council Members: Karen Kelley and Christine Favreau along with Veriditas Faculty Member: Nathan Wiles

Come join us for a day of exploration with the labyrinth, where we will focus on developing self-compassion, compassion for others, and connection with nature through nature bathing. This workshop offers a unique opportunity for participants to fully immerse themselves in these topics and engage their bodies, hearts, and senses in the experience. Through this immersive experience, we hope to deepen our understanding of the compassionate connection we share with both nature and others.

This in-person event is a Veriditas Approved Qualifying Workshop for attending a Veriditas Labyrinth Facilitator Training. 

Activities will include:

  • An opening ritual 
  • Introduction to the labyrinth 
  • Exploration of Compassion
  • Experience presence through the multi-sensory practice of Nature Bathing 
  • Individual reflection and group discussion
  • A labyrinth walk
  • Creating your own simple art project
  • A closing ritual to synthesize our day
    You will receive:
    • A beautiful environment at St Paul’s United Methodist Church in Houston Texas
    • A basic introduction to the labyrinth that prepares you for facilitator training if desired
    • Simple journal
    • Art materials for the project
    • Writing prompts, examples, and assistance
    • Time to network

    Karen Kelley

    Karen is a retired computer programmer with 11 years’ experience working on the Space Shuttle Program at the Johnson Space Center in Houston, Texas.  She is now a spiritual director, SoulCollage® facilitator, and Certified Boundless Compassion Facilitator for which she trained with Sr. Joyce Rupp, OSM.  Additionally, Karen trained with Rev. Dr. Lauren Artress and Rev. Dr. Kay Mutert and is a Veriditas Advanced Accredited Labyrinth Facilitator.  She has served on the Veriditas Board and Council, as well as volunteering for several other spiritually oriented non-profits for many years.  She loves to find labyrinths everywhere she travels, and to offer retreats and workshops featuring the labyrinth and Boundless Compassion. Karen is an avid student of Gary Craig’s Optimal EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques) Course.

    Christine Favreau

    Christine, a retired HR professional with 25+ years of experience across different industries, now manages a wellness spa located in northern Vermont. She received training from Lauren Artress and holds a Veriditas Advanced Accreditation as a Labyrinth Facilitator. In addition, she is also trained as a Nature Bathing Guide by the Association of Nature and Forest Therapy (ANFT). Christine enjoys leading wellness workshops, participating in community events, and connecting with people through shared experiences. Her passion for HR and wellness practices has inspired her to assist others in advancing their lives, careers, and organizations. She has volunteered for many non-profit organizations, served on the Veriditas Council, and is currently studying Reflexology while also developing and expanding her family businesses. Christine possesses a curious and creative mind, which drives her to explore the world and everything it has to offer 

    Nathan Wiles, Faculty

    Canvas Labyrinth Workshops

    Nathan Wiles is the founder of Innate Creations, an educating labyrinth building and design company. Nathan utilizes skill and experience from his former career as an Interior Designer and Project Manager to help create his labyrinth builds and workshops.

    Along with his 30 years of building and designing experience, he was trained by an established Feng Shui consultant and has practiced various meditation techniques.  Now, with over fifteen years of experience in both labyrinth designing and building, Nathan is able to join the collective consciousness of the individual or group to help develop their thought onto “canvas.” His passion is to bring a secular understanding to the mystery surrounding us in such a diverse world, while increasing the Labyrinth community through the education and collaboration with public schools, corporations and wellness facilities.
