Join us in this session which serves as a qualifying workshop leading to Facilitator Training. In this beginning of the new year, particularly in the light of the last 20+ months, how important that we take time as individuals and communities to reflect on where we have been, where we are going. The challenges of today are calling us to find new/ancient ways of reflection. Together we will look at how the labyrinth serves to provide the space and time for that important reflection. The workshop includes an introduction to Veriditas and the labyrinth, but those experienced in labyrinth work are welcome to join us in the application of labyrinth as reflective work.

    The Reverend Dr. Kay Mutert

    Veriditas Master Teacher

The Rev. Dr. Kay Mutert has been working with the Master Teacher program of Veriditas since 2008, offering labyrinth workshops in awakening new creative energy, community building, and spiritual transformation

Her Master Teacher responsibilities include training new facilitators and renewal training for those trained in past years.

She works with organizations to establish labyrinth communities, to hear the hopes of a setting and translate that into an ongoing vision.

In her workshops and trainings she holds the space for participants to discover and develop their own gifts and skills, and to build community.

Kay has been a member of the Veriditas Council, Southeastern USA regional representative, and musician. When she left her local church ministry Kay created "DaySpring - a source of creative expression and renewal of spirit", as a conduit to work with an increasingly larger circle of community.

Through her labyrinth work, she uses her experience as musician, minister, teacher and spiritual accompanist with groups and individuals from diverse arenas of life, inviting them to discover the possibilities of the labyrinth to experience a reconnection with the sacredness of life, to find the language for their own setting.

Kay's work helps others find ways for renewal of mind, body, spirit and creative energy, through retreats, workshops and sacred events.

. . . “We are not alone, and the rest of creation is not there simply as a resource for us.”
    ~Richard Powers, Overstory

Balance and harmony are the life partners of the Celtic people, bowing to the sacredness of their surrounding tree wisdom and nature. In today’s culture, how do we infuse this nature-focused lesson into our labyrinth pilgrimage of seeking harmonious life? What shifts will take our internal journey to the vigilant path of building more branches for a just “tree community”?

Waxing into increased light, between the Quarter and Full Moons, we gather to experience the complex branches and roots of the Celtic Tree of Life and Celtic Tree Zodiac and to interweave parallel earth rhythms of poetry, soundscapes, birth tree stories, and lunar cycles that honor the seasons of tree life and our own on the labyrinth quadrants. As we celebrate Celtic tree wisdom on our collective odysseys, we will harvest seeds of birth time and groundings, awakening pathways of new consciousness for radical actions of harmony. (Included are the loving sound seeds from Virginia.)

The Celtic culture holds in reverence the oneness of all beings in balanced relationship with each other. The profound reality that trees play into that same unique bondedness is exemplary of harmonious life and the relationship model we seek to perpetuate. That same bondedness is manifested by walking the labyrinth quadrants toward that center place of breath and balance.

In the spirit of Celtic life, the tree gifts of healing medicines, animal burrows, a presence of permanence and longevity offer the sacred symbols of stability, open-mindedness, strength, and universal connectedness. What better tool is there for today’s thirst for radical harmony than the shared archetypes of Celtic life, trees, and the labyrinth?

Shared materials include Celtic Tree Zodiac information, rituals, poetry, writing prompts, music resources, labyrinth downloads, and other references.

Have you dreamed of creating a labyrinth in your living room, backyard, or neighborhood? Whether temporary or permanent, ten feet in diameter or sixty feet wide, develop your toolkit for making labyrinths that benefit any intention or space. Learn how to create archetypal Classical and Chartres variations quickly and easily using simple materials. Craft a tabletop labyrinth for a home altar or art installation using small objects and make two simple walkable labyrinths over the course of six weeks. Apply the techniques you learn to design labyrinths for your own workshops, presentations, festivals and projects.

Through inspiring slideshows and video tutorials Lars Howlett (Discover Labyrinths) will share his experience engaging a wide variety of labyrinth settings, materials and audiences to illustrate how small and simple labyrinths can have a big impact. We’ll explore how patterns resonate differently and which are better suited for small spaces, diverse communities, and varying age-ranges and abilities. A special guest will join in the third session to share ideas and inspiration for community labyrinths with a Q&A.

This workshop will be held online via Zoom in three 3-hour sessions, one held every two weeks over the span of six weeks. Between sessions you can work at your own pace in creating a tabletop labyrinth and/or temporary walkable labyrinth in or around your home. Participants will have an opportunity to share and discuss their new labyrinths and get feedback from the instructor and each other both during live sessions and as part of an online community platform. If you are unable to attend live or miss a session, the recording will be available for one month to catch up or revisit on your own time. A digital workbook will be provided detailing the methods for you to keep. Registration is limited to ensure an intimate group and opportunity to ask questions and connect with one another. "To experience our path is to acknowledge the possibility that "something greater" is attempting to live itself out through our lives."  Lauren Artress

We are spiritual beings walking a human path.  We know our lives have a purpose, but we may not know what that purpose is, let alone how to find it. We will explore both the labyrinth and SoulCollage® as tools to unlock the mystery of our soul's calling.

The profound act of creating SoulCollage® cards and working with the labyrinth as a powerful blueprint can guide us into birth.

Join us for a week-long gathering of creative self-discovery in Chartres, France in 2022.

    The Chartres Experience

What better place to feel nurtured than the sacred space of Chartres Cathedral. We begin with a reception to meet each other followed by an opening ritual and orientation to the program. Then each day, there is a morning seminar, a small processing group, and an experience of what Chartres has to offer.  SoulCollage will be a daily creative activity.

Tuesday evening holds a unique Pilgrim's Walk through the Crypt of Chartres Cathedral, on Wednesday, an orientation to the labyrinth and a once in a life-time candlelit labyrinth walk with medieval music on the Chartres Labyrinth, on Thursday a tour of the Cathedral itself, and a closing celebratory dinner on Friday.

Join us in this ancient place of refuge and renewal!

Join interspiritual author and teacher, Mirabai Starr, for an exploration of the interconnected wisdom at the heart of all religious and spiritual traditions. Over this week, we will follow the streams of mystical longing and social justice through readings from poetry and sacred texts of the world’s great religions, sitting in contemplative silence, chanting the names of God in an array of languages, and engaging in deep dialog through conversation and writing.

Discover the unifying teachings and experience the heart-opening practices that carry us beyond an intellectual understanding of humanity’s many spiritual paths to the place we are transformed by the love at their common core.

In order to reach this common core, we must reclaim the wisdom of the feminine.  We will focus on women mystics and wisdom beings across the spiritual traditions. These long-buried wisdom teachings and previously ignored women mystics are revealing themselves to be urgently relevant as we pass through a global dark night of the soul and into a radically renewed humanity. With its emphasis on relationality and inclusivity, its tolerance for ambiguity and its intimacy with mystery, the feminine in all genders reclaims the body as holy ground, worships the earth as a cherished relative, and blesses the web of interbeing that sustains us all.

Mirabai Starr shares the fruits of many years of investigating, excavating and lifting up female voices in all the world’s religions.

Mirabai Starr is an award-winning author of creative non-fiction and contemporary translations of sacred literature. She taught Philosophy and World Religions at the University of New Mexico-Taos for 20 years and now teaches and speaks internationally on contemplative practice and inter-spiritual dialog. A certified bereavement counselor, Mirabai helps mourners harness the transformational power of loss. Her latest book is WILD MERCY: Living the Fierce & Tender Wisdom of the Women Mystics. She lives with her extended family in the mountains of northern New Mexico.
