July 17: Introductory Lecture and Labyrinth Walk

The impact of walking labyrinths continues to touch peoples’ lives. And, we search for a way to understand the power behind this ancient archetypal form. In the opening night lecture, we will explore the Organizing Principle of the Labyrinth. Once the labyrinth is embodied, it becomes an over arching metaphor for how we live our lives.

July 18: Workshop led by the Reverend Dr. Lauren Artress

Walking the Labyrinth as a Spiritual Practice.

The labyrinth can be used as a spiritual discipline, or as a spiritual practice. In this workshop we will differentiate these two approaches, explore applications for using the labyrinth and reflect upon outcomes of an effective spiritual practice.

This workshop is designed for those who want to enrich and deepen their spiritual lives and to be in service to others. It serves as a qualifying workshop for the Facilitator Training that follows.

Suggested Reading: The Sacred Path Companion by Lauren Artress. (This is required reading for those attending the Facilitator Training.) Available on Amazon

Expand your labyrinth toolkit for leading walks and workshops in a variety of settings!  Learn the ins and outs of labyrinth making in this new workshop for facilitators revealing quick and easy methods for drawing simple designs and creating temporary labyrinths. We’ll explore patterns best-suited for small spaces, special events, diverse communities, and varying age-ranges and abilities. Gather ideas and enhance your skills for leading sessions in contemplative drawing, labyrinth blessing, energizing spaces, and community building.

Lauren Artress will join for a discussion about how to season a labyrinth, offering ideas and examples of ways to bring a new path to life or revive a lonely one. All participants are invited to a special dinner on an outdoor labyrinth at the home of local artist Ben Nicholson.

July 22: Designing Labyrinths with Lars Howlett and special guests Robert Ferré & Ben Nicholson

Learn to draw and create Classical and Medieval labyrinths through a variety of simple and inexpensive methods. Explore the differences between spirals and meanders, mazes and labyrinths to discover the essential elements for adapting designs or creating one of your own!

Students will receive a workbook highlighting the history, classification, and methods for drawing traditional or one-of-a-kind labyrinths. Apply new skills in the creation of finger labyrinths, artistic projects, or plans for a large-scale installation. This is a great opportunity to learn about the diversity of designs and explore how and why certain patterns resonate with people.

Robert Ferré will share his expertise in adapting the Chartres design and creating tools and techniques for tape labyrinths for events. Participants will be invited to Ben Nicholson’s private studio for an evening artist’s talk and exhibition of his incredible series of hand-drawn designs.

July 23:  Sacred Geometry, Sacred Paths with Lars Howlett and Special Guests Robert Ferré & Kent Schuette

Channel your inner wisdom by working with intention and intuition in creating sacred spaces that reflect and resonate with nature.
