BEING RESCHEDULED DUE TO COVID19 - WATCH FOR NEW DATES TO COME

Hildegard of Bingen (1098-1179) is a Rhineland mystic whose creative vision nourishes us even in our day. Benedictine abbess, author of ten books, healer, visionary, musician, and composer of the first opera in the Western world, her wisdom remains relevant to our time!

Hildegard will be the focus of Veriditas’ Urban Pilgrimage in conjunction with Grace Cathedral’s Candlelight Labyrinth Walk.

We begin Friday afternoon at 1:30. Cultural historian and musician Dr. Kayleen Asbo will lecture from 3:00 to 4:30 PM on the music of Hildegard, and then from 6 to 8 PM, we join Grace Cathedral’s Candlelight Walk with special music by noted French musicians Catherine Braslavsky and Joseph Rowe.

Saturday we will start at 1:30 PM with The Reverend Dr. Lauren Artress speaking on the life of Hildegard, her cosmic theology and her vast body of work including her visions. Lauren will lead us through inner reflections on the relevance of Hildegard to our own lives. A private labyrinth walk using hand bells on the labyrinth will end the evening.

Both days include a reception prior to the evening walks.

Schedule:

Friday, March 13  1:30 pm - 7:30 pm
including light reception prior to labyrinth walk.

Saturday, March 14  1:30 pm -  7:30 pm  including  a hosted reception following our private ritual on the Grace Cathedral labyrinth.

Suggested Reading List:

  • Walking a Sacred Path: Rediscovering the Labyrinth as a Spiritual Practice by Lauren Artress
