The Lakota believe that everything has a spirit; including trees, rocks, rivers, and almost every natural being.
In the Black Hills, we will begin an inner-quest using the Labyrinth. We will dive into the richness of the journey, to be felt through personal reflection,  taking an honest look at conditioned perspectives and conjuring up the courage to navigate through muddy waters. We will use a Native American Labyrinth design, in both a traditional fashion and as a contemplative tool. Together we will experience the beauty of ritual, authentic conversation and mindfulness exercises while moving forward with gentle self compassion and inquiry. You are invited to shed the constraints that keep you hidden. We offer you this safe platform to explore with us.

For those interested in learning more about labyrinths and those who might consider future training. This workshop qualifies attendees to attend later Veriditas Facilitator Training.

WATCH FOR NEW DATES TO COME ...

"To experience our path is to acknowledge the possibility that "something greater" is attempting to live itself out through our lives."  Lauren Artress

We are spiritual beings walking a human path.  We know our lives have a purpose, but we may not know what that purpose is, let alone how to find it. We will explore both the labyrinth and SoulCollage® as tools to unlock the mystery of our soul's calling.

The profound act of creating SoulCollage® cards and working with the labyrinth as a powerful blueprint can guide us into birth.

Join us for a week-long gathering of creative self-discovery in Chartres, France.

    The Chartres Experience

What better place to feel nurtured than the sacred space of Chartres Cathedral. We begin with a reception to meet each other followed by an opening ritual and orientation to the program. Then each day, there is a morning seminar, a small processing group, and an experience of what Chartres has to offer.  SoulCollage will be a daily creative activity.

Tuesday evening holds a unique Pilgrim's Walk through the Crypt of Chartres Cathedral, on Wednesday, an orientation to the labyrinth and a once in a life-time candlelit labyrinth walk with medieval music on the Chartres Labyrinth, on Thursday a tour of the Cathedral itself, and a closing celebratory dinner on Friday.

Join us in this ancient place of refuge and renewal!

    Safety Concerns?

As you probably know, the U.S. government is continuing its Worldwide Caution with respect to foreign travel in general. France is not specifically mentioned in the latest update. On a separate website, the U.S. embassy in France notes that the French government is continuing its reinforced security measures. The State Department provides a program for concerned travelers to receive security messages and make it easier to locate you in an emergency: see Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP).

To mark the occasion of our 10th Labyrinth Summer School, Lars Howlett has invited his mentor, Robert Ferré, to return for a Master Class for alumni or experienced designers and creators. This special two-day workshop will outline advanced methods for installing labyrinths and shaping their environment through signage, access paths, benches, lighting, and landscaping. Lars will detail and demonstrate double and triple spiral labyrinths including the Baltic Wheel, Wunderkreiss and Triskelion designs. Robert will reveal secrets of the Chartres Labyrinth and take us on a deep dive into the center rosette and lunations.

Learn about project management from consultation to design, fundraising to planning, and the realization of a shared vision. Hear insightful and inspiring stories from Robert’s work as Labyrinth Enterprises as well as anecdotes of working with clients, volunteers and ego. Lars and Robert will share case studies for creating beneficial and accessible labyrinth environments as well as options for maintenance and lessons from restoration.

Special guests will include labyrinth luminaries from around the world appearing by video for short talks. Workshop participants will deepen bonds with other makers through small group ‘cohorts’ forged around shared interests.

Robert Ferré was the first full-time labyrinth builder in the United States, beginning in 1995. He and his associates at Labyrinth Enterprises hand-built more than 1,000 labyrinths, both portable and permanent (plus temporary ones). He has written numerous books about labyrinth building as well as giving lectures and masterclasses. In the first training he gave for Veriditas, he met Lars Howlett, who served as Robert's apprentice before establishing his own place in the labyrinth world. Robert still makes the occasional labyrinth, enjoying retirement in San Antonio with his wife Linda Ricketts, working on writing projects and playing pickleball.

Lars Howlett is a leading expert in the design and creation of sacred space for walking meditation, centering prayer, personal healing, conflict resolution and community building. Lars is a practitioner of mindfulness and student of sacred geometry since 2003, experimenting with a wide variety of designs, materials, intentions and settings in his personal and professional projects. Lars was a three year apprentice to Robert Ferré, inheriting the tools, techniques, and teaching curriculum of a master builder. Lars is a Veriditas Faculty Member and Certified Labyrinth Facilitator trained by the Reverend Dr. Lauren Artress at Grace and Chartres Cathedrals. Visit http://www.DiscoverLabyrinths.com

    Veriditas Approved Qualifying Workshop/Retreat

This four night, five day retreat is a time to pause and clarify the path you are on. Both the labyrinth and the SoulCollage® process can be used as tools of transformation to help us navigate the many challenges of life. They both give us ways to access our own inner resources and intuition. Using one of them alone will make a difference in your life, but used together they amplify and deepen each other because they are both languages of the soul. They enable us to access our inner world and deepen our understanding of ourselves as we journey on this path called life. Both processes allow us to create a sense of order out of the information that bombards us from all directions, and both encourage us to develop a higher level of awareness which enables us to thrive in the complex and ever-changing world in which we live.

The cost of $995 includes four nights accommodation in a single room with private bathroom, all meals and all art supplies and instruction. A shared room is $895.

In this  pilgrimage designed for both our hearts and our minds, we will encounter Mary in Chartres where she has been venerated over the centuries, tracing her place in the story of the Sacred Feminine.  Each day, we will begin in the chapel with medieval and contemporary song and chant led by Ruth Cunningham followed by Judith Tripp’s exploration of the Sacred Feminine through lecture, image, writing practice, guided meditations, exploration of the Cathedral and a glorious evening candlelit labyrinth walk.

We will begin our pilgrimage with a reception on Sunday August 30 and prepare for our labyrinth walk on Monday August 31 with a session with Lauren Artress in the afternoon.  Each morning we will begin with meditation in the Cathedral or garden, a music session with Ruth Cunningham in the chapel and the ongoing program of lecture, group process and art in the  morning sessions.  We will conclude with an art project and a celebratory dinner on Thursday night.

This is a once in a lifetime experience that participants are drawn to repeat.  Join us in this ancient place of refuge and renewal so needed in our times.

Judith Tripp, MA, MFT, is a transpersonal psychotherapist, teacher and musician. She is on the board and faculty of Veriditas and leads  yearly pilgrimages to the Celtic Lands.  She has been developing this material during her yearly pilgrimages to Chartres since 2009.  www.circleway.com

Drawing on the lost wisdom of the Celtic world, John Philip Newell speaks it afresh into the heart of this moment in time, addressing the most critical issues facing humanity today.  He invites us to reawaken to what we most deeply know, the sacredness of the earth and the human soul.

Led by John Philip Newell, internationally acclaimed Celtic teacher from Edinburgh, is the celebrated author of Listening for the Heartbeat of God: A Celtic Spirituality.  He is the founder of the School of Celtic Consciousness and one of the most prominent Christian teachers of spirituality in the Western world.  He has authored over 15 books, including Christ of the Celts, Praying with the Earth, A New Harmony, and his most recent visionary title The Rebirthing of God:  Christianity's Struggle for New Beginningswww.heartbeatjourney.org

Please note: this is a 4 day program (unlike our usual Walking A Sacred Path 5 day programs).

We begin on Monday at 4:00 pm with orientation, introductions, and a reception.  Each morning Tuesday - Thursday, we begin with a morning seminar with our guest faculty followed by a small group session.  Tuesday evening will be a special tour of the crypt and cathedral as though you were a 12th century pilgrimage.  Wednesday afternoon, Lauren Artress will present on the labyrinth and prepare us for our evening labyrinth walk.  In meditative silence, we will walk through the Cathedral crypt moving up to the candlelit labyrinth for a labyrinth walk with medieval music.  Thursday we end the program with a reception and celebratory dinner.

This is a once in a lifetime experience that participants are drawn to repeat.  Join us in this ancient place of refuge and renewal so needed in our times.
