WisdomAn awareness of embodiment is important to every person wanting to make a difference in the world. When we are embodied, our intuition and imagination are opened and available to us and to our community in new and profound ways. What does it feel like to be embodied and what is the process by which we can become more grounded in the body?

Two powerful bodies of work are combined in this workshop. The Body/Soul/Rhythm ™ work that includes movement and expressive art developed by Mary Hamilton through the Marion Woodman Foundation, and meditation, reflection and integration through walking the Labyrinth developed by Lauren Artress. Walking the labyrinth is a spiritual practice that quiets the mind, opens the heart and grounds the body. The labyrinth is a mirror of the soul that reflects back to us where we are on the journey. It opens the door to self-knowledge and allows us to comprehend and release the psycho-spiritual issues that need clearing.

Mary and Lauren will provide a cognitive framework and then guide participants in a process that nurtures the innate embodied wisdom. This work is evolving through Mary and Lauren’s collaboration, expertise and friendship.

Information on the Body/Soul Rhythm™ Process

The BodySoul Rhythms™ approach, based on the premise that body and soul are one dynamic, evolved over a 30-year period of collaboration among Jungian Analyst Marion Woodman, Voice Specialist, Ann Skinner, and Movement Educator, Mary Hamilton in their internationally taught BodySoul Rhythms Intensives. In these workshops the leaders combine the study of Jung's model of the psyche through assigned readings and seminars, dream work, and inwardly inspired movement, voice work and painting. In a supportive space each participant accesses her own individual dream imagery to discover her unlived energy - the shadow. Exploring the shadow allows the authentic self to emerge for integration into daily life. (See: www.mwoodmanfoundation.org)

About Lauren Artress and Mary Hamilton

Lauren Artress, who has completed the BodySoul Intensive Leadership certification process, has developed the work with the Chartres-style eleven-circuit labyrinth. The labyrinth has one circuitous path that leads to center and is used in many ways. The labyrinth, a safe, archetypal container creates a symbolic field where participants explore images immerging from within. Each participant works at her own level and her own pace.

Lauren is an Episcopal priest and Honorary Canon at Grace Cathedral in San Francisco and is known for her exemplary work with the labyrinth. Her book, Walking a Sacred Path and her workshops are known worldwide as she has dedicated her life work to activating and facilitating the transformation of the human spirit through the Labyrinth Experience. Lauren is an MFT psychotherapist and is in training in the Marion Woodman BodySoul Rhythms™ Leadership Training.

Mary, a graduate of the National Ballet School of Canada and a professor of dance technique and improvisation at the University of Western Ontario is a founding member with Marion Woodman and Ann Skinner of the famous BodySoul Rhythms™ Intensives. Her books and workshops are also known around the world as she has dedicated her life work to bringing the unique, authentic and personal body/soul to consciousness wholeness through creative movement.

Together, Mary and Lauren will combine their teaching gifts, providing participants with the opportunity and the space to shed old skins, to drop into the timeless, spaceless world of soul, to touch the divine spirit within, and to experience the renewal of their personal, spiritual guidance for the New Year. Join Mary and Lauren in this new and groundbreaking work.
